Hikmet Kamally, Director of the DAAD Baku Information Centre

- The German Academic Exchange Service or DAAD is the largest German support organisation in the field of international academic co-operation. It is a German scholarship organization. The DAAD Baku Information Centre provides information on education and research in the country and regulates applications for DAAD scholarships. DAAD is one of the largest financing institutions in the field of international cooperation.

At this year’s exhibition DAAD is represented by the Baku Information Centre under the slogan "Education and Research in Germany". Here we will inform visitors about educational and research opportunities in Germany and answer their questions.

DAAD offers numerous scholarships for students and researchers. Successful applicants are eligible for education or retirement in Germany. I would like to brief you about several scholarship programmes that are of great interest to students.

  1. Summer Language Scholarship in Germany. The target group of the scholarship programme is undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarship is a funding for a 3-4-week specialization, language and country studies course in Germany. The successful applicants of 2019 were paid EUR 1575 by DAAD to meet the cost of living, courses and travel in Germany.
  2. Another programme is to finance Master's education in Germany. Note that this is a full scholarship programme. Applications are accepted in German and English.
  3. There are also various scholarships available to high school teachers and academic staff. It is possible to get a DAAD scholarship to do research. In addition, it is possible to finance a weekly visit to a German university with a maximum of 15 students for a high school teacher.
  4. In addition, DAAD also supports cooperation between the universities of Azerbaijan and Germany.

We are a regular participant in EduExpo. Our main target group are students, and during the exhibition days we can see a large inflow of students. I would like to note that every consultation and service provided by our Centre is free of charge. We are happy to see all the exhibition visitors in the Baku Centre.
